Description |
 Perform clinical laboratory tests, such as hematology, immunohematology, chemistry, bacteriology, mycology, serology, parasitology, endocrinology, general immunology, and urinalysis.  Ensure the efficient running of the assigned section/department/lab, which includes routine work of different aspects of clinical investigations, sterilization of laboratory equipment, etc.  Collect and process samples, verify specimen identification and investigate and resolve testing issues.  Perform special handling and packing of referral samples.  Ensure that sufficient quantities of laboratory chemicals, test kits and equipment are available at all times. Includes raising requisitions and taking stock.  Prepare basic laboratory reagents.  Mail and file lab reports.  Maintain all instrumentation and testing procedures within established quality control standards.  Ensure that the proper disposal of Laboratory Contaminated Medical Waste and Sharp items in compliance with current HSE regulations.  Responsible for attending mandatory departmental and hospital in-service and competency programs.  Perform all duties in a manner that is consistent with PHCG Code of Conduct.  Attend mandatory departmental and unit meetings.  Ensure compliance with all QC protocols.  Look for opportunities to improve systems, processes and work practices – both within your own position and the organization as a whole.  Perform special phlebotomy procedures.  Maintain necessary supplies and inventory.  Participate in continuing education programs to maintain licensure and remain updated on changes in the medical technology field.  Perform all other duties as required or assigned. |
